Dining at Cristallo di Luna, Pacific Regency KL
Discreetly tucked away on the 34th floor of the Pacific Regency Hotel in Jalan Punchak, the Cristallo di Luna is an elegant fine dining restaurant.
To get there, you have to take the lift up to 33rd floor and then walk up the staircase, where the Cristallo di Luna is on the right….
Upon entering the area, you might just feel your breath catch like mine did as you take in the elegant dining area with dangling crystal chandeliers and floor to ceiling glass window giving diners a magnificent view of the city including one of the gorgeous and majestic KL Tower….
The restaurant serves some pretty delicious meals that wouldn’t seriously burn a hole to your pocket (like some other fine dining restaurant might).
Yours truly was over there with friends from the AboutKL and Gaya Travel team, and it is always so much fun dining with these group of familiar faces and meeting a couple of other new people…
Ok.. my table manners are atrocious considering I am not someone from the upper class society and it can be confusing with the forks and knives around.. lol…but I hoped I did not embarrassed anyone in the team as I faintly recalled the rule of using your cutleries outside in…..
For starters, we were served some nice hot bun which was just heavenly to munch. I am such a hot roll/bun person and there is nothing like the smell, and melting butter inside it… lol… then everyone was given a little sushi…I got me a seaweed one, but well, I just gobbled it up… yeah, yeah… so unladylike and unbecoming in a fine dining area… probably earning me a few frowns from the people who are well versed in fine dining, but I live my life…. Hahah
We decided to share some of the dishes so we can taste them all…so for Appetizers –
It was Salmon Carpaccio – Pacific salmon carpaccio on garlic aioli served with roasted mushroom and wild rocket leaves /RM30 – I love salmon… and I can never resist mushrooms… so this was definitely my favourite.. no qualms about it…
I nibbled some of the Prawn and Scallop/ RM45 , that came with seared scallops and prawns with ruby grapefruit, piquillo coulis, orange and frisee salad
I skipped salad and went for soup… and ordered me a Classic French Onion Soup with Gruyere Crouton/ RM25 and was slightly disappointed as the soup was actually pretty thick… ummm… I was more used to the more watered down French Onion Soup with onions slices floating around with croutons and sinful melted cheese on top.. there was no cheese here and the soup consistency was a bit too thick and rich and there was one big crouton there… the taste is not too bad though, perhaps a little too salty..
Others on my table enjoyed their Cappucino of Wild Mushrooms and cepes dust /RM25
And Kaffir Scented Lobster Soup with Sea Scallop and Coconut Foam/RM35 better…
For my main course, I chose to have the Pan seared Norwegian Salmon Steak with seafood ragout and buttered bok choy/RM47 which was just delicious… I definitely love the combination and the salmon was just fresh and delicate…
Another fish you might like to try would be the Oven basted honey-pommery mustard of Cod Fish Fillet with ginger buerre-blanc sauce, on a bed of sautéed savoy cabbage with pine nuts, buttered vegetables and allium tomato confit/RM115……
But if you are more of a meat eater, you might like to check out their meat selection which is also pretty impressive…
You can probably check out the Lamb Rack/ RM80, a pistachio and herb crusted rack of lamb with lavender sauce and aubergine caviar.. served with buttered baby vegetables and mango- chilli salsa
The Chicken Supreme/RM47 looks pretty good as well being grilled free range chicken with roasted Mediterranean vegetables in tomato case, garlic puree confit and basil scented oil and jus….
Or go for the pasta… we tried the Spaghetti Crustacean served with Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab and a Fresh Water Prawn/RM55… it was definitely scrumptious though I have to say the crab was a little too salty for my taste….
I was too full after that to have any dessert but I quenched my thirst with a lovely glass of Fruit Punch…and had to leave earlier as well as I had to get some to deal with something… sigh…
But before, I left I could not resist a couple of minutes of admiring the amazing night view…It was just as if you were dining among the stars and looking down from above… it was just so pretty…..
This is a great place to get a nice meal and impress your other half or even better for very special occasions such as anniversaries, proposals etc….or just a good get together with friends over a damn good meal… – please pardon my language….hahaha
